Personal project. I wanted to create a 2D inventory system for a FPS / Tarkov like game implementing the important features with accessibility for both console and pc.
I knew exactly what I wanted in my inventory so I started with the wireframe to work on the layout first. For my inventory I needed: character layout, backpack, loot (when needed) and during the process I also implemented a player stats section.
My idea was to have everything in one single page, because with fast paced games you really don’t have much time to go and scan through different pages in your inventory or character system.
Wireframes.
Final wireframe. Improved general shapes and created space between the different sections.
After the wireframe I decided to start polishing and arranging the elements in an easy and recognizable way.
I also tried a different layout, without displaying the main 3D character, but even if I wasn’t a big fan of it, this helped me to focus more on the other sections and the overall UX of the project.
Final and polished version for the inventory system. Improved the UI and readability and implemented more elements to make it easier for players to navigate the system.
Character and backpack only interface.
Iconography and assets created for the project.
